$3300 Will Be Given To Anyone Who Will Marry A Widow at Madhya Pradesh in India ; These Are The 2 Conditions.

The Madhya Pradesh government has come up with a first-of-its-kind initiative to encourage widow remarriage. A report carried that the scheme, once it is launched, will see at least 1,000 widows getting remarried a year.

Under the scheme, the government will hand out Rs 2 lakh to the person who will marry a widow albeit there are conditions in place. And the widow woman must be below the age of 45.

The idea of the scheme, which is said to have been floated by Madhya Pradesh social justice department, came after Supreme Court in July had asked the Centre to frame a policy under which widows can be remarried.

Since the legalisation of widow marriage in 1856, no scheme was in place which encouraged marrying a window or gave monetary incentives.

For the scheme, the state government initially will reportedly set aside a sum of Rs 20 crore.

Fearing any misuse of the scheme, there are some conditions in place such as the man should not be married before and that the marriage has to be registered in the district collectorate.
