Google’s crackdown on any truths it disagrees with has just hit an all new low—and the company now openly describes its Orwellian agenda in public documents for you to see.
It’s no longer conspiracy, and it’s no longer sugarcoated: the monolithic search engine has stated clearly in writing that any views and beliefs contrary to mainstream opinion will be suppressed.
But what constitutes “fake news”? Does a multi-billion dollar corporation really have the interests of others in mind?
Well, according to one of Google’s own documents, on page 108, it explains what exactly constitutes invalid information:
- “Pages that directly contradict well established
scientific or medical consensus for queries seeking scientific or
medical information, unless the query indicates the user is seeking an alternative viewpoint.
- “Pages that directly contradict well-established
historical facts (e.g., unsubstantiated conspiracy theories), unless
the query clearly indicates the user is seeking an alternative viewpoint.”
The alarm bells should be ringing at this point, because nothing says Orwellian like that first bullet-point: “contradict well established scientific or medical consensus…”
How many times throughout history has medical or scientific consensus been wrong? It’s the nature of science to remain open to change and adapt over time.
Google’s crackdown on alternative opinions follows a recent trend since the 2016 election over “fake news.”
Earlier this month, we reported on how the search engine giant was effectively censoring alternative left-wing websites like ACLU and The Intercept (and conservatives ones, too) in its overall attempt to combat fake news.
But there are still ways for you to bypass the digital censorship and remain connected to the information you know and trust.
First, use alternatives to Google when searching the internet, such as Good Gopher, DuckDuckGo, Yandex, Searx.me, and Qwant.com
Another technique is the tried and true “bookmarks” feature on your browser.
Bookmark your favorite sites so you can bypass Google.
