The popular drink “Kombucha” has taken the world by storm in recent months, and it’s easy to see why. It’s sweet, effervescent and supposedly good for you. But before you take a sip of your prettily packaged Kombucha drink, it goes through a creation process that has many people today asking, “I’m drinking WHAT?”
One of the main ingredients in Kombucha is SCOBY. What’s SCOBY, you ask? It’s an acronym that stands for, get ready for it, a Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast. Appetizing, right? As if the name wasn’t already bad enough, SCOBY looks just as — if not more — gross than it sounds. Put simply: It looks like a rotten oyster.

I bet you don’t find the photos above as good and appetizing.
