A pedophile who was found guilty of raping and killed a 6-year-old child has been rushed to hospital with severe burns after he had boiling water poured on his crotch shortly after arriving in prison.

Gregory Keith Davies, 74, recently confessed to the murder and rape of Kylie Maybury 33 years after committing the horrific crimes.Kylie’s family were put through years of hell after spending 3 decades searching for the truth.

Davies entered a guilty plea in May this year and had been imprisoned awaiting sentencing later this year.

He was attacked after arriving in a Melbourne, Australia prison after he confessed to the high-profile crimes.

His defense lawyer David Gibson appeared in the Supreme Court of Victoria asking for an extension of time before the retiree’s hearing and sentence.

According to Mirror, Davies, who is still being treated and is in “extreme discomfort”, did not appear in court.

Mr. Gibson told the court Davies had been attacked at Port Phillip Prison in July and transferred to the Alfred Hospital until August 16.

Gibson said Davies had suffered burns to 15 per cent of his body, 9news reported. He said Davies was still being treated for his injuries in custody and had only just got back onto his feet to be able to walk.

Mr. Gibson said:

“He is in extreme discomfort, he’s had skin grafts to 15 per cent of his body.

“Those grafts are now tightening up and causing him considerable pain.”

He sought an adjournment for a psychiatric assessment to be ordered and to find out what happened in the attack.

Crown prosecutor Mark Rochford argued the psychiatric report should be subpoenaed and the date not delayed.

He said Kylie’s family had already bought flights to Melbourne for the plea hearing, which was due to take place on September 21, and should not be inconvenienced.

Justice Lex Lasry said he couldn’t refuse an adjournment in the circumstances.Kylie was sent out to a nearby shop to buy sugar in 1984 but she went missing on her walk home and never returned to her mum.She was found dead in a Preston gutter the next day.

Her murder remained a mystery until new DNA evidence retrieved from semen in Kylie’s underwear led investigators to Davies last year.He was arrested at his Waterford Park home in June 2016 and charged with her killing.
