A dream is a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. Dreaming is an aspect to many native cultures, in fact, children from a very tender age are taught to keep a record of their dreams because every dream holds a deep meaning and is a new chapter in somebody’s soul path. However, people have always questioned where do the soul travels as we dream?
Per Vedanta, there are three bodies - Gross body (Sthula Sharir), Causal Body (Karana Sharir) and Subtle Body (Sukshma Sharir). Whilst gross and causal body are intertwined with the physical human body, the subtle body which also known as the astral body is the very part of the cosmos that we are all in our waking entirety.
The subtle or the cosmic body is the representation of the soul which travels through the dreams or while deep trance during meditation. As the native culture would have it, this cosmic body travels through the world and also the universe while we dream and that is why it is so important to keep a track of our dreams. It is neither our body nor our mind that dreams but our soul that contacts the spirit world while we are into a deep slumber. It is by experiencing the realness of the dream world that we appreciate the dreaminess of the real world.
Looking at dreams in a new light
Contrary to the scientific belief system that dreams are a cluster of thoughts that we have through the day or the experiences we gather through a time period; but the realm of spirituality has a different take on dreams altogether…
Dreams are the subtle message from the cosmos that guides us through the journey of life. Even Native Americans believed that when you dreamt, it was not a coincidence or a cluster of experience but a message that was transmitted to us so we could be aligned with our soul path.
The dream world is a real world. In the background of New Age and New Spirituality, the dream world is a place where we meet our higher self, our spirit guides, our angels and Archangels. Dreams can be a warning, an answer to a question, pre-cognition of a moment from future or simply a walk in the spirit realm to align you with your highest goal that you chose for yourself prior to your birth on this planet.
Where does our Soul travel?
Per the old culture and tradition and the founding base of Vedanta’s three body theory it is quite clear that the soul travels through spaces, cities, countries, across the continents; the entire world, the universe and different dimensions.
As the soul travels through these important phases and the spirit world it gathers a lot of information, important lessons, advice from the soul group to carry the light and shine brightly as a soul had planned for itself. Now you know why dreams are important and you must try to keep a track of your dreams.
