This 12-Year-Old Helped To Deliver Baby Brother And The Images Went Super Viral

The majority of the hospitals prohibit entry of non-hospital staff in the maternity ward or delivery room. While some hospitals do allow husbands and mothers of the to-be-moms to witness the process first-hand, they are certainly not open to the idea of letting anyone else inside, including the children of the family.

It is not very difficult to understand why they do not entertain the participation of children but a recent incident where a doctor not only allowed a 12-year-old girl inside the delivery room but also let her partake in the delivery process. This has taken the internet by storm.

Recently, a hospital in Mississippi allowed the girl to deliver her baby brother under expert guidance. This etched an unforgettable memory in her mind. The pictures clicked by her father during the process have since gone viral and garnered mixed reactions on Facebook.

The 12-year-old was eager to witness the birth of her baby brother.

Jacee Dellapena, a 12-year-old girl from Mississippi, US, was eager to watch her baby brother being born but dreaded her short height, which could be a deterrent in the process. She started crying for being unable to witness the moment. Jacee’s mom, Dede Carraway, saw her daughter’s restlessness but knew it would not be possible for her to observe the birthing process.

The doctor asked the girl if she would like to help in the delivery process.

Seeing Jacee’s enthusiasm and uneasiness, the obstetrician Dr Walter Wolfe asked Jacee if she would like to participate in the delivery of her baby brother. To this, Jacee could not hold her excitement and jumped to the idea.

Dr. Wolfe asked the mom, “Why don’t you just let her suit up and deliver the baby?”

Carraway was reluctant to let her daughter participate in the delivery but the doctor got her suited up with scrubs and latex gloves. Carraway explained the scene in a post on a Facebook page ‘Love What Matters’. She wrote, “Dr Wolfe actually put her hands on the inside of his and allowed her to do the entire delivery.”

She even cut the umbilical cord.

Jacee was guided by the doctor in cutting the umbilical cord too and the moment has been etched in the little girl’s memory forever. “I actually, like delivered him, like, he let me actually push down and pull the baby out….I was like, wow, like I’ve played fake doctor before, but this is, like, the real thing, this is the real deal. I was really nervous,” Jacee, told MS News Now.

Jacee’s dad captured the priceless moments in his camera and a family friend of theirs, Nikki Smith, shared them on Facebook.

A memorable experience!

Carraway said that Jacee had wanted to see the birth of their second child too but they dissuaded her as she was too young for it.

“Seeing the emotions on her face, it made me cry. I’m about to cry now! It was just a good moment for me,” Carraway said.
