North Korea is in news recently, thanks to Donald Trump. However, did you know that North Korea, officially the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, is a country in East Asia constituting the northern part of the Korean Peninsula?

The Squad

The head of state of North Korea allegedly maintains a collection of groups of approximately 2,000 women and girls called Kippumjo or Gippeumjo roughly translated as the pleasure squads. Their main purpose is to provide pleasure, mostly of a sexual nature, and entertainment for high-ranking officials of North Korea and their families, as well as occasionally distinguished guests.

Drugs

The most abused drug Marijuana is legal in North Korea that they are even sold in their market places. Some believe that Marijuana holds few medicinal properties which benefit many.

Massive Events

Pyongyang the capital of North Korea has the worlds largest stadium with a seating capacity of 150,000. The stadium is named ‘Rungrado 1st of May Stadium’ and has till date hosted numerous sporting events, performances, and shows.

Statue’s

Every 3.5 km in North Korea has a statue of Kim II Sung, i.e one for every 750 people. So, approximately North Korea has around 34,000 statues of Kim II Sung. As a mark of their loyalty to the founder of the nation, every Korean is required to wear a badge featuring Kim II Sung’s face.

Black Outs

NASA illustrated the electricity problems in North Korea with a night image by them of the Korean Peninsula. It shows North Korea to be submerged in total darkness in comparison to their neighbors China and South Korea.

The Difference

For some reason unknown to many, most North Korean women are surprisingly taller than their male counterparts and other women across the globe.

The Mud Festival

North Korea hosts an annual mud festival which was initially started to promote mud cosmetics. It is very popular with Korea’s western population.
