Loren Bunner has been sentenced to 52 years in jail after shooting his then girlfriend twice in the back of the head and then shoving her off of a cliff. On August 30, 2015, Loren posted two photographs of his girlfriend by the cliff just mere moments before he cold-heartedly killed her.

During his trial in July, he changed his ‘not guilty’ plea to ‘guilty’ for the murder of Jolee Callan.

Loren claims he and Jolee had a suicide pact but in the end, she was the only one who perished.

The pair then went on a hike to oversee a forest along the Pinhoti Trail of Cheaha State Park. Loren claims that the suicide pact the duo shared involved them both jumping off the cliff.

However, he says that when they both got there they couldn’t go through with their original plan. He says that he shot her in the back of the head so that she ‘wouldn’t see it coming.’

However, an autopsy shows a different story since she was shot in the back of the head as well as at point blank range between the eyes.

Loren then disposed of the body by throwing it off the cliff.

After the murder, Loren fled the scene and then called 911 where he proceeded to confess to the murder.

The 911 recording which was submitted as state evidence revealed what he said at the time of the call: ‘I want to turn myself in for the murder of my ex-girlfriend, Jolee Callan that happened just a little while ago on Cheaha Mountain.’

The District Attorney revealed three separate levels of homicidal violence during the trial. First, he explains how Loren shoots her in the back of the head as she is looking at the view.

Then, he flips her over and then shoots her at point blank range to ensure that she is dead. And then he ‘drags her body to the edge of the cliff and throws her 40 feet off of the cliff.’

The District Attorney goes on to reveal that Loren tried to kill Jolee’s new boyfriend by soliciting a friend to kill him just two days earlier.

In a heartbreaking letter, Jolee’s father, Michael, describes his daughter as a ‘great kid who never got into any trouble.’

He continued on by writing: ‘she would tell me about him [Loren] threatening suicide all the time, and I tried to tell her just to move on. But everyone who knew Jolee knew that if they were in trouble and needed a friend, she would be the first one there, and he knew if he called her and threatened to take his life, she would be there, and she was.’

‘My Mom and Dad’s house burned two weeks after Jolee’s death. I lost my Dad a little later, due to a stroke. I firmly believe that if Jolee hadn’t been killed, my Dad would still be here today. It’s just taken a toll on the whole family. Everyone loved her.’
