Thomas Gunderson was one of the thousands of people attending the Route 91 Country Music Festival when gunshots began to ring out in the arena.

Amidst the chaos, Gunderson ran toward the road and was struck in his leg by a bullet from one of Stephen Paddock’s many guns.

By the grace of God, Thomas survived the gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital where he was treated and where he will remain for sometime while he undergoes multiple surgeries on his leg.

Despite being confined to his bed, Gunderson insisted on standing when President Trump and Melania came into his hotel room Wednesday afternoon to meet him.

Melania walked in first and gasped as Gunderson rose from his bed.

“Hi Thomas, How are you? No, please don’t stand!”

But Thomas refused to sit. He chatted with the First Lady until President Trump came in the room.

“Hey, this guy looks tough to me,” said President Trump and immediately went to shake Thomas’ hand in admiration for his bravery and resilience.

Gunderson released a statement on social media that has quickly gone viral after meeting the President and First Lady.

“I will never lie down when the President of this great country comes to shake my hand! There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president and my flag.”

What this true patriot said next will have you in tears.

“Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!”

Thomas Gunderson just showed all Americans how to act in front of the President and First Lady. Put your politics aside for your country!
