Wildlife Hunter Known For Killing Elephants And Lions Devoured By Crocodiles

While on safari, noted wildlife hunter Scott van Zyl disappeared…and now what are believed to be his remains have been found, courtesy of two crocodiles.

Van Zyl was hunting with a Zimbabwean tracker on the bank of the Limpopo River in South Africa when he disappeared, the Telegraph reports.

Though both his dog team and the tracker returned, van Zyl did not, leading to a search that lasted days.

His last tracks were found near the river, and his backpack nearby, leading search teams to suspect Nile crocodiles took him.

As one rescuer commented, “We found what could possibly be human remains in them.” Forensic tests are currently being run to determine conclusively if the remains found are, indeed, those of van Zyl.

Given van Zyl’s long history as a big game and exotic wildlife hunter, it seems strangely fitting that he might have met his match in a few crocodiles.
